News about US customs

To all my US customers, please note that for the moment the US post is really annoying about the customs.

The United States recently adopted a decree that significantly changes customs procedures, effective 29/08/2025, for goods sent to the United States + annexed territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Minor Outlying Islands).

Goods are now taxed from the first dollar, whereas previously they were exempt from customs duties up to £800.
These customs duties are now payable by the sender, and no longer by the recipient, unlike in the rest of the world, and must be paid to US customs before the items enter the United States.

However, to date, the United States has not provided European postal operators with the specific procedures for collecting taxes. It is therefore impossible for us to undertake the work necessary to implement these new requirements.

As a result, like many other European postal operators, La Poste will temporarily suspend certain shipments to the United States from 8 a.m. on Monday 25 August until further notice.
The following services will be suspended from 25/08/2025 :
The sale of postage for shipments of goods to the United States (excluding Chronopost)
The acceptance of parcels to the United States at post offices, except for Chronopost

I can still send as "a present " if it is worth less than 80$

Please note that once it will be all organized I will have to collect the tax according to pay it directly to the customs.

Regards,

Elise
