Cette association remarquable de rockbridgeite et de strengite provenant du district minéralisé de Collioure (Pyrénées-Orientales) illustre parfaitement la richesse en phosphates ferrifères des filons hydrothermaux du Massif des Albères. La scène microscopique est dominée par une matrice sombre et brillante de rockbridgeite, en agrégats aciculaires et lamellaires à éclat submétallique, formant un réseau dense et cristallographiquement bien individualisé.
Sur cette gangue se développent de superbes sphérules botryoïdales de strengite (phosphate hydraté de fer), d’un rose lilas à violacé pâle, parfois presque opalin, conférant à l’ensemble un contraste chromatique et textural exceptionnel. Ces agrégats sphériques, souvent parfaitement formés, témoignent d’une cristallisation tardive à basse température dans un environnement riche en solutions phosphatées acides.
 
This fine association of rockbridgeite and strengite from the mineral district of Collioure (southern France, eastern Pyrenees) is a classic example of iron phosphate mineralization in oxidized hydrothermal veins. The specimen is dominated by a dark, lustrous matrix of rockbridgeite forming acicular to bladed aggregates with a submetallic sheen and well-defined crystal outlines.
Scattered across this matrix are delicate botryoidal and globular growths of strengite, displaying soft lilac to pale violet hues, locally with a pearly to opaline luster. These perfectly rounded spheroids result from late-stage, low-temperature crystallization from acidic, phosphate-rich fluids, and provide a striking color and textural contrast with the darker rockbridgeite.
