Très beaux cristaux prismatiques d’osumilite reposant dans une cavité tapissée de microcristaux incolores et brillants.
Le cristal montre une forme prismatique bien développée avec terminaison nette, caractéristique de ce minéral rare. Sa couleur bleu très sombre à noir bleuté, presque opaque selon l’orientation de la lumière, contraste fortement avec la matrice claire environnante. Les faces cristallines sont lisses et bien définies, soulignant l’élégance géométrique du cristal.
L’osumilite est un silicate rare riche en magnésium, fer et aluminium, typique de certaines roches volcaniques riches en silice. Les occurrences de Obsidian Cliff dans le parc national de Yellowstone sont particulièrement connues des micromonteurs pour leurs cristaux bien formés dans de petites cavités de rhyolite.
 
Very well-formed prismatic osumilite crystals resting in a cavity lined with sparkling colorless microcrystals.
The crystal shows a well-developed prismatic habit with a sharp termination, characteristic of this rare mineral. Its very dark blue to bluish-black color, appearing nearly opaque depending on the lighting, contrasts strongly with the surrounding pale matrix. The crystal faces are smooth and well defined, highlighting the geometric elegance of the specimen.
Osumilite is a rare silicate rich in magnesium, iron, and aluminum, typically found in certain silica-rich volcanic rocks. Occurrences at Obsidian Cliff in Yellowstone National Park are especially known among micromount collectors for producing well-formed crystals in small rhyolitic cavities.
