Cristaux prismatiques d’imitér ite d’un noir intense à reflets submétalliques, implantés au sein d’une druse de carbonates translucides à clivages rhomboédriques bien marqués (dolomite). Les cristaux montrent une morphologie allongée, à section rectangulaire à légèrement rhombique, avec des terminaisons nettes et un éclat métallique à adamantin, contrastant fortement avec la gangue claire.
L’imiterite est un sulfo-arséniure complexe d’argent, de mercure et de cuivre, typique du gisement polymétallique d’Imiter, l’un des plus importants districts argentifères du Maroc. Elle se forme dans les filons hydrothermaux à basse température, en association avec argent natif, pyrargyrite, proustite, galène, calcite et dolomite. Sa cristallisation tardive, dans des cavités ouvertes, permet localement le développement de cristaux bien individualisés, comme dans cet échantillon.
 
Elongated prismatic crystals of imiterite, deep black with a submetallic to adamantine lustre, perched on a matrix of transparent rhombohedral carbonates (dolomite). The crystals display sharp terminations and well-developed faces, with strong optical contrast against the colourless host, emphasizing their metallic character.
Imiterite is a rare silver–mercury–copper sulfoarsenide, characteristic of the famous Imiter polymetallic silver district. It crystallized from low-temperature hydrothermal fluids in open vugs, in association with native silver, pyrargyrite, proustite, galena and carbonates. Well-formed crystals are uncommon and represent late-stage mineralization in the vein system.
