Très belle cristallisation d’austinite verte provenant du célèbre district minier de Laurion (Lavrion), en Attique, Grèce.
L’échantillon présente plusieurs agrégats cristallins vert pomme à vert fluorescent, translucides et fortement brillants, implantés sur une matrice sombre riche en oxydes de fer. Les cristaux montrent des formes tabulaires à lamellaires, avec des terminaisons bien individualisées et des surfaces particulièrement éclatantes.
L’austinite, CaZn(AsO₄)(OH), est un arséniate secondaire rare qui se développe dans les zones oxydées des minéralisations riches en zinc et arsenic.
 
Beautiful crystallization of green austinite from the famous Laurion (Lavrion) mining district, Attica, Greece.
The specimen displays several apple-green to vivid green crystalline aggregates, translucent and strongly lustrous, set on a dark matrix rich in iron oxides. The crystals show tabular to bladed habits, with locally well-defined terminations and exceptionally bright surfaces.
Austinite, CaZn(AsO₄)(OH), is a rare secondary arsenate formed in the oxidized zones of zinc- and arsenic-rich mineralization.
